Posterior Association Areas: Parietal/Occipital/Temporal Cortex

- Areas of complex multimodal convergence are also located posterior to the primary somatic sensory cortex, within portions of the posterior temporal lobe, and portions of the anterior occipital lobe. Collectively, these areas are called the parietal / occipital temporal / association cortex. The shading on the figure illustrates the intermediate position of the posterior association cortex relative to primary visual, auditory, and somatosensory areas.
